Interested people can come into our studio and have a chat with us. We look forward to welcoming you and advising you personally on site. In our showroom in Lucerne, we present a generous selection of the niu collection, which is distributed by us designers. Our workplaces and model-making workshop are also based here, and you are welcome to look over our shoulder as we work.
How did we come up with the name «niuform»?
The short explanation: niǔ means to twist in Chinese and refers to the legs of our furniture collection.
The somewhat longer explanation: When we had almost completed our entry for the Wood Award, we needed a name for our stools and dining table. It was important to us that the name had a connection to the furniture and was short. After a short research, niǔ was in the final selection and our clear favorite. Short, catchy and with a twist to it.
When we then wanted to launch a website and noticed that the name was already taken, we had to come up with something again. Again, we found the solution pretty quickly, which has now worked its way through to our studio name: Niuform. We are proud to be registered as niuform GmbH in the commercial register since 2020.
Our studio is a twelve-minute walk from the train station. Bluezone parking spaces are also available in the immediate neighbourhood. Or in a street just parallel to ours.
We share our studio with the two guys from Layercake. The two brothers create three-dimensional, unique and eye-catching objects and figures of all sizes out of cardboard, plastic or composite panels. With their background as industrial designers, we share the same background and can push each other to come up with new ideas again and again.
